Turkey Day week ended up being quite a nice long break. My days off fell perfectly with the days the shop would be closed, giving me 6 days off in a row. And I planned to ride every one of em!
My new little trail dog, Dinka, joined me on many of the rides, as well as Gustifson H Blakfur. It's officially Gus's riding season again as the temps haven't gotten much out of the 40's.
Mary and I didn't make it to Moab as soon as we thought in the week, due to an unexpected opportunity to see our new RA doctor down in Delta. She has upped one of Mary's meds, and is tapering another. We hope that the change will help Mary deal with the cold temps a little better. Otherwise we are moving to Copper Canyon Mexico next year for the winter...don't think we won't!!!
Last visit to Moab, Andy and I found the beginning of an un-finished trail called Pipe Dream, literally out the back door of Mary's parents house. Now, a few months later, the trail is finished, and it is awesome. Moab single track, right from the back door all the way to Hidden Valley trail head. However, ride it in the morning, cause its darn cold in the shadow of the Moab Rim, which engulfs the trail at about 1 PM.
Andy is always hopping onto rocks and challenging mountains...and logic!
Keith came over from GJ for our final ride day. We planned a "short" little ride, Sovereign Trails to town. It was longer than I expected (Mary says this happens a lot) but the sun was shining from a cloudless sky. Despite cold temps it was a perfect day to pedal and likely the last of snow free trails for the year.
For only 2:30 in the afternoon that shadow is pretty long. Another season has arrived. Not my favorite one, but I'm realizing that as I get older they just aren't as long as they used to be. For Spring, Summer and Fall that's kind of a bummer, but Winter....I'm doing my best to appreciate Winter.... snowy, cold, dreary, make my wife hurt Winter.
